The rapid growing interest and development has been the outcome of recognition of these regions as a means of providing ideal conditions for relatively cheap transport, food and mineral resource, petroleum, natural gas, agricultural and industrial development, housing and recreation. However, this rapid development has created a conflict between the dynamics of natural system and the human activities in coastal regions.
